The Eco Farm
The Concept Of Eco Farming
An organic way of life isn’t a luxury. Its how life is supposed to be. At Chaitanya, along with producing a wide range of organic products we advocate nature’s way of living. We also try to restore fertility to the earth & bring self sufficiency into the lives of who till the land.
Sustainable agriculture is the act of farming using principles of ecology, the study of relationships between organisms and their environment that will last over the long term. Organic farming is one of the significant methods to make agriculture sustainable.
Few decades have already passed since the danger of "modern" agriculture both to our health and to our environment was seriously criticized. Agro-chemicals (including chemical fertilizers and pesticides) are known to cause acute, chronic, and sometimes even hereditary illness to human being, destroying natural ecological balance, and polluting our food chain and water sources. Exploitation of land use by large scale mono-cropping is also revealed to be a problem for it deprives soil of its fertility eventually leaving a compact, acid, eroded and barren land behind after continuous cultivation. In addition, heavy dependency on fossil as energy source to operate big machinery and to transport perishable food stuff across the remote continents are highly wasteful and unsustainable since these resources are not unlimited.
Organic farming is the form of agriculture that relies on techniques such as crop rotation, green manure, compost and biological pest control. Organic agricultural methods are internationally regulated and legally enforced by many nations, based in large part on the standards set by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM), an international umbrella organization for organic farming organizations established in 1972. IFOAM defines the overarching goal of organic farming as:
"Organic agriculture is a production system that sustains the health of soils, ecosystems and people. It relies on ecological processes, biodiversity and cycles adapted to local conditions, rather than the use of inputs with adverse effects. Organic agriculture combines tradition, innovation and science to benefit the shared environment and promote fair relationships and a good quality of life for all involved..."
On our farm, we work on an unique integrated farming system to produce the highest quality of organic crops.Back To Home
